Edo Guber Poll: Candidates, political parties sign peace accord

Political parties and their candidates in the 2024 Edo State gubernatorial election have on Thursday signed a peace accord, promising their commitment to the terms of the agreement.
The signing was revealed in a post shared on Thursday by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The signing occurred in the presence of General Abdulsalami Abubakar, the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, Inspector General of the Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and others.
The post reads, “Political parties and gubernatorial candidates signed the peace accord, pledging their commitment to upholding terms of the agreement and ensuring a peaceful electoral process.
“The signing was witnessed by NPC Chairman, General Abdulsalami A. Abubakar, GCFR, INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, CSOs, the Media, and other participants at the event.”
The Edo State election is scheduled to be held on Saturday, September 21.
