EFCC nabs 37 suspected Internet fraudsters in Awka

Operatives from the Enugu Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission arrested 37 suspected internet fraudsters in a sting operation in Awka, Anambra State.

This was gathered in a remark shared by EFCC on Wednesday.

The all-male suspects were apprehended based on credible intelligence linking them to fraudulent activities at Commissioners’ Quarters, Ifite.

Recovered items include six luxury cars, laptops, and mobile phones, with charges expected to follow upon completion of investigations. The EFCC reiterated its commitment to combating cybercrime in the region.

The statement said, “The all-male suspects were arrested in a sting operation at Commissioners’ Quarters, Dr. J. O. Ukwutinife Close, Ifite, Awka, Anambra State, following credible intelligence linking them to fraudulent internet activities.

“Items recovered from them include six exotic cars, laptops and mobile phones.

“They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
