Former Kaduna Central lawmaker, Shehu Sani has described the recent handover of 753 seized housing units by the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, to the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) as one of the most unprecedented and transparent processes in Nigeria’s anti-corruption history.
The properties, recovered from embattled former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, were formally transferred to the FHA as part of a renewed effort by the EFCC to ensure recovered assets serve the public good, Dailyeconomy reports.
Reacting to the development, Sani, via his official X (formally Twitter) wrote, “The Ola Olukoyede handover of the 753 housing units seized from the ex CBN Boss to the Federal Housing Authority is one of the most unprecedented transparent process that has happened in Nigeria’s anti corruption history. In the past, it would just have been dubiously auctioned to proxies.”
