Egypt, Nigeria strengthen financial ties in Central Bank’s strategic talks

Governor Hassan Abdalla of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) welcomed a high-level delegation from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Cairo on Monday.

The Nigerian delegation was led by Governor Olayemi Cardoso and included Deputy Governor (Operations) Dr Bala Bello, two Departmental Directors, and a Special Adviser to the Governor.

The strategic working visit according to a statement shared by CBN focused on enhancing bilateral relations between the two central banks, fostering regional financial cooperation, and exploring ways to deepen institutional collaboration. Both parties exchanged views aimed at supporting wider economic development goals in Egypt, Nigeria, and the broader region.

“On Monday, July 28, 2025, the Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), Hassan Abdalla, hosted a high-level delegation from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) led by Governor Olayemi Cardoso, during a strategic working visit to Cairo.

“The visit provided an opportunity for both Central Banks to engage in constructive dialogue on regional financial cooperation and to deepen institutional collaboration between Nigeria and Egypt in support of broader economic development goals.

“The CBN delegation included the Bank’s Deputy Governor (Operations), Dr. Bala Bello, as well as two Departmental Directors and a Special Adviser to the Governor,” the statement reads.
