Elon Musk hails Tesla’s new chip fab as ‘heaven’ for rapid AI hardware innovation

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has shared his vision of the perfect workday, praising collaboration with elite engineers and unveiling details of a groundbreaking in-house semiconductor facility.

“My idea of a good time is working with amazing engineers to create incredible technology,” Musk wrote on X.

He described the upcoming Tesla chip research fab as the ultimate setup, “The Tesla chip research fab will have all the machines needed to do logic, memory, packing & masks in one building for a lightning fast development cycle. Heaven.”

The facility represents a highly vertical manufacturing approach, integrating logic, memory, packaging, and mask production—all under one roof.

This design promises dramatically faster development cycles for Tesla’s custom semiconductors, accelerating progress in AI hardware for its vehicles, Optimus humanoid robots, and Dojo supercomputing systems.
