The Enugu State Police Command has arrested 51-year-old Emeka Emmanuel Nwangwu on December 1, 2025, following the brutal murder of his 19-year-old maternal cousin sister, Loveth Uloma Nwangwu, at a pharmacy in Nsukka.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the deceased had previously reported severe abuse by the suspect, who was also a member of the Neighbourhood Security Watch Group.

She “reported a case of defilement, sexual abuse, abduction, and threat to life” against him, revealing he had “restricted her communication with family and friends and subjected her to sexual abuse” since she began living with him at age 13.

After attempts to escape, Loveth was reportedly held captive and threatened with a firearm.

Despite initial family efforts to seek spiritual cleansing rather than prosecution, tragedy struck when “while receiving treatment at a pharmacy in Nsukka, the suspect forced his way in, assaulted her, and struck her head repeatedly on the floor, causing fatal injuries.”

Commissioner of Police CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa condemned the atrocity and promised “Justice will be served.”

The State Criminal Investigation Department has been mandated to ensure a thorough investigation and swift prosecution of the suspect.
