The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has shared a record N2.225 trillion among the federal, state, and local governments, as well as other statutory recipients, for August 2025, the highest revenue distribution in Nigeria’s history.
This was obtained in a post shared on X by the President’s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga on Thursday.
This marks the second consecutive month that disbursements have exceeded N2 trillion, reflecting significant progress in revenue generation under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
According to the communiqué after the FAAC meeting in Abuja, gross federation revenue for the month stood at N3.635 trillion. From this, N124.839 billion was deducted for collection costs, while N1.285 trillion was set aside for transfers, interventions, refunds, and savings.
The distributable revenue included N1.478 trillion from statutory revenue, N672.903 billion from value-added tax, N32.338 billion from electronic money transfer levy, and N41.284 billion from exchange differences.
The Federal Government, states, local governments, and oil-producing states all received their respective shares in line with allocation formulas.
The rise in revenue was driven by higher inflows from oil and gas royalties, value-added tax, and common external tariff levies.
This record-breaking allocation underlines the Tinubu administration’s efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s fiscal base and provide greater resources for development across all levels of government.
