FAAN, AON collaborate on revenue generation, others

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria and the Airline Operators of Nigeria are set to work together to improve revenue generation and airport infrastructure.
This was disclosed in a statement by the FAAN Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah.
The FAAN’s Managing Director, Olubunmi Kuku, according to the release outlined priority programmes including digital transformation, service quality, culture transformation, security and service quality during a recent meeting with AON.
The meeting which was aimed to enlighten AON on the plans the Authority has for airport development and to also listen to feedback from the operators to enable FAAN to provide better services that will cascade to passengers was held at the New Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
The statement read in part, “The FAAN MD/CE kicked off the meeting with a presentation on her priority programs of Safety, Security, Culture Transformation, Digital Transformation, Service Quality and Revenue Generation that are for immediate implementation. She expressed her desire to see FAAN be one of the top airport management companies in sub-Saharan Africa within the next decade and identified the need for collaboration with AON to achieve the goal.”
However, AON commended FAAN’s management for positive changes and emphasised the need for ongoing collaboration to enhance services for passengers.
Speaking at the meeting, the Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace, Dr Allen Onyema, Dr. Allen Onyema, said AON members are happy to see how FAAN and the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo have approached airport management with a deep sense of responsibility.
He said according to the statement, “When government does what is wrong, you can say it, but what is happening in FAAN is commendable.
“The desire to do good is very, very transparent. You can see it. So, why won’t we have confidence in the system? This is no more fighting time; this is time for collaboration.”
In attendance were the Director of Engineering Services, Abiola Muniru Adejare; Director of Airport Operations, Abdullahi Mahmood; Director of Special Duties, Henry Agbebire; and Director of Aviation Security Services, Afegbai Albert Igbafe (Rtd).
