The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has called for stronger collaboration with journalists, promising improved treatment and open access as it seeks to rebuild ties in the aviation sector.

Speaking on Friday at a get-together hosted at Legend Hostel within Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos, FAAN’s Director Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, expressed delight at the gathering and urged media professionals to deepen their partnership with the agency.

The event, attended by select journalists, comes amid ongoing scrutiny of airport operations, including recent complaints about media access and information flow.

Agbebire emphasised the importance of accuracy in reporting, enjoining journalists to “always verify their story before publishing no matter the circumstances.”

He positioned himself as an accessible ally, vowing, “I’ll always be available to dance to any questions from journalists at any time,” signaling a commitment to transparency even under pressure.

Further underscoring the value of the fourth estate, Agbebire pledged enhanced support, stating that journalists are “one of the rocks of the industry.”

This follows FAAN’s broader efforts to foster goodwill, including past initiatives on passenger rights and infrastructure upgrades at Nigeria’s busiest airports.
