Femi Fani-Kayode, former Nigerian aviation minister, has fired back at reports claiming Germany rejected his nomination as Nigeria’s ambassador, branding them as opposition-fueled misinformation.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Fani-Kayode wrote, “Fake news everywhere. These opposition elements are so pained by my appointment and they are doing everything to discredit me and scuttle it.
“Whether they like it or not I will serve my country! Keep crying!”
The unverified report, circulating online and based on anonymous sources, alleges that Germany turned down Fani-Kayode’s March 2026 nomination due to his history of divisive ethnic and religious statements.
Neither the German government nor Nigerian authorities have issued official confirmations or denials.
Fani-Kayode’s nomination has drawn intense scrutiny, following earlier petitions from the Nigerian diaspora urging Berlin to reject him
