FCT Police thwart kidnapping, officer killed in action

In a courageous operation early Thursday, the FCT Police Command foiled a kidnapping attempt by approximately 30 armed assailants in Guto village, Bwari Area Council.
SP Josephine Adeh, FCT Police Public Relations Officer in a statement on Thursday noted that at around 1:10 a.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2025, the Police swiftly responded to a distress call reporting the invasion.
The Bwari Division’s Surveillance Team teamed up with the IGP Special Intervention Squad (SIS) and confronted the attackers, who immediately opened fire.
The Police retaliated with overwhelming force, neutralising two kidnappers while the rest fled into nearby bushes and mountains.
Tragically, the statement confirmed one Police officer sustained a fatal gunshot wound and died at Bwari General Hospital.
The FCT Police Command mourned the loss, acknowledging the officer “paid the supreme price in the line of duty.”
FCT Police Commissioner CP Miller G. Dantawaye psc. has since reinforced security in the community and ordered a full investigation to apprehend the perpetrators, ensuring the safety of residents and restoring peace.
