The Federal Government has unveiled the Nigeria National Laureate Annual Prize Programme to honour and financially reward outstanding academic research from tertiary institutions.

In a statement issued Tuesday by Boriowo Folasade, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Ministry of Education, the initiative targets dissertations and theses with exceptional intellectual and commercial potential.

Winners will receive cash prizes alongside national recognition for their scholarly contributions.

Undergraduate dissertation winners qualify for a minimum of N5 million, master’s thesis winners get N10 million, and doctoral thesis winners receive up to N20 million.

The programme aims to boost innovation and excellence in Nigerian higher education, encouraging students to produce research with real-world impact.
Officials say submissions will open soon, with details to follow from the Ministry.
