At a pivotal meeting today, Nigerian Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo (SAN) convened heads of key agencies to finalize preparations for the rollout of Nigeria’s electronic visa (e-Visa) system, set to launch on May 1, 2025.

The initiative aims to modernise immigration processes and enhance border security.

Dailyeconomy gathered this in a statement shared by Tunji-Ojo via his X (formally Twitter) handle on Wednesday dusk.

Tunji-Ojo emphasised the importance of inter-ministerial collaboration, stating, “We demonstrated the possibilities of re-engineering processes for optimal success, even as independent government bodies in an endless pursuit of excellence.”

He further highlighted the benefits of the new automated landing and exit card system, which will improve documentation and intelligence gathering on foreign travellers.

Acknowledging contributions from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Tunji-Ojo remarked, “This teamwork is a great success towards improving security across our borders.”

The initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision to transform Nigeria into a hub for tourism and investment.

“The administration of President @officialABAT (GCFR) will continue to invest resources to grow and develop the nation into an Eldorado of our dreams,” said Tunji-Ojo.
