The Federal Government of Nigeria is pushing forward its energy-led growth agenda under Mission 300, with high-level talks in Abuja signaling a major boost for the power sector.
Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, spearheaded engagements with global energy and finance partners on Friday.
The discussions zeroed in on speeding up Mission 300—a pan-African drive to expand electricity access continent-wide—through massive investments and reforms.
In a statement on Friday, the Presidency emphasised the stakes, “Reliable electricity remains critical to productivity, industrial expansion, digital inclusion, and job creation.”
It highlighted key levers like metering upgrades, transmission enhancements, regional power grids, and distributed renewables, all backed by fresh financing and private sector muscle.
Stakeholders pledged swift action, with the statement confirming, “The Federal Government has intensified efforts to drive energy-led economic growth. Stakeholders agreed to accelerate implementation, attract capital at scale, and ensure measurable economic and social impact nationwide.”
Mission 300 aims to transform Nigeria’s energy landscape, potentially unlocking jobs and growth as the country tackles chronic power shortages.
