FG renames Abuja varsity to Yakubu Gowon University

The Federal Government has renamed the University of Abuja, to Yakubu Gowon University.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made it known on Monday, following a Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja.
The renaming is in honour of Nigeria’s former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, who recently celebrated his 90th birthday.
Idris conveyed that the proposal will be forwarded to the National Assembly for formal approval.
