The Federal Government has announced plans to create a special database for farmers aimed at enhancing identification and traceability of agricultural produce.

Dada Olusegun, Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, confirmed the initiative via X on Sunday stating, “The Federal Government is set to create a special database for farmers, which will include the size and location of their farms to enable the identification and traceability of their produce.”

This pioneering project will be carried out in collaboration with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).

According to Olusegun, the database “will serve as a window for the ministry to identify and evaluate farmers eligible for government interventions.”

This move promises to improve support to farmers by facilitating better targeting of government programs and ensuring accountability in the agricultural sector.
