Flood: NEMA assesses River Benue’s water levels in Adamawa

The National Emergency Management Agency has conducted an assessment of the water level at the entry point of River Benue in Bakin Kogi community, Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The assessment according to a remark by NEMA is part of the agency’s continuous efforts to handle and manage flood risks effectively.
The assessment was led by the Yola NEMA Operations Office head, Ladan Ayuba, and aimed to evaluate the current river level and effectively prepare for potential flooding.
The remark stated, “The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) conducted a critical assessment of water levels at the entry point of the River Benue in the Bakin Kogi community, Yola North Local Government Area (LGA), Adamawa State.
“The visit, led by Mr. Ladan Ayuba, Head of NEMA Yola Operations Office, was aimed at evaluating the current river level and ensuring preparedness and activation of early warning for any potential flooding.
“During the visit, the NEMA team met with the Marine Police Operational Commander, who provided a detailed briefing on the current water levels and the overall situation in the area. The update underscored the importance of ongoing monitoring and preparedness response to changing weather conditions.
“This assessment is part of NEMA’s ongoing efforts to address and manage flood risks effectively. The agency continues to work closely with local authorities and stakeholders to ensure the safety and well-being of affected persons.”
