The Guidedpath Private School, Magodo, Lagos State, has organised 9th edition of its annual Ramadan lecture at the IEFI Masjid hall, Magodo GRA Phase 2, Lagos, on Saturday.

The guest lecturer, a judge of Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeal, Ilorin and Imam – Clearpath Islamic Centre, Lagos, Kadi AbdurRaheem Ahmad, in his sermon highlighted the importance of adapting to life’s challenges while adhering to Islamic principles.

Ahmad emphasised that Muslims must find ways to align their actions with the will of Allah, even in difficult situations.

“You must find a way around whatever situation you find yourself in and ensure that the will of Allah is done. That is why we are Muslims,” he said.

The lecture also touched on Islamic privileges and rules, such as combining prayers during emergencies or travel.

He noted that combining prayers is permissible under specific conditions, such as during travel or in harsh weather conditions like heavy rain, establishing that the practice is supported by various Islamic schools of thought, with the Shafiee doctrine allowing the combination of Dhuhr and Asr prayers due to rain, as long as it makes clothes wet, indicating significant hardship.

He cited, “Combining prayers is permissible in situations of hardship, such as heavy rain or intense cold, to ease the burden on believers.”
