Graphic designer living with albinism appeals for medical support in battle against skin cancer

Gerald Uche Eke, a professional graphic designer, loving husband and father, and a proud Nigerian living with albinism, is appealing to the public for urgent financial support as he continues his courageous battle against squamous cell carcinoma – a severe form of skin cancer caused by prolonged exposure to sunlight.
For the past three years, Mr. Eke has endured significant physical, emotional, and financial hardship in his fight against the disease. His treatment journey has included three major surgeries, two chemotherapy sessions, and one radiotherapy course, undertaken at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) and the NSIA-LUTH Cancer Centre.
Despite these treatments, Mr. Eke still urgently requires corrective jaw surgery and ongoing therapy to restore his health and ensure his long-term recovery. However, the financial burden of these critical procedures has become overwhelming.
“I am reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your help during this very challenging time,” says Gerald Eke. “Your contribution—no matter how small—can bring me one step closer to receiving the care I need. I am grateful for any support you can offer, and may the Lord answer you at your point of need.”
Members of the public, organizations, NGOs, and fellow Nigerians are encouraged to offer support. Donations and inquiries can be directed to:

Gerald’s appeal is not just for financial aid, but also to raise awareness about the challenges faced by people living with albinism, especially concerning the risk of skin-related cancers due to sun exposure.
