The Guidedpath Private School, Magodo, Lagos State, Inter-House Sports Competition 2.0 commenced, continuing the tradition from its maiden edition in 2023. This year’s theme, “Showcasing Good Sportsmanship,” emphasised selflessness, collaboration, and the importance of teamwork.
Speaking before the commencement of the program, the School Director, Rizqah Sodique-Lasaki, welcomed attendees and highlighted the event’s goals, drawing inspiration from Magic Johnson’s quote, “Ask not what your teammates can do for you, ask what you can do for your teammates”.
She stated that the competition aims to teach children valuable life lessons such as discipline, responsibility, and resilience, while parents are encouraged to support all participants, reinforcing the idea that “it takes a village to raise a child”.
Furthermore, the school director quoted Knute Rockne, reminding everyone that “Win or lose, do it fairly,” and Mike Marshall, noting that “Victory is in the quality of the competition and not the final score”.
The event which included games like, Picking of Treats, Ribena Challenge, 20m Race, Slippers Race, 50m Race, 70m Race, 100m Race, Egg & Spoon, Filling the Bottle with Cup and Foam, Sack Race and others took place at Agege stadium on Sunday, February 16.
The event rounded up with the Green House bagging the overall best, while the Yellow House secured its silver medal and the Red House bagged the bronze medal.
However, the event promotes good sportsmanship, discipline, safety, and mutual support, ensuring everyone is a winner, regardless of the final results.
