Herbalist arrested for sexually assaulting client in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended a 49-year-old herbalist, Suleiman Manzo well known as Suleiman Makeri for allegedly assaulting a 22-year-old patient sexually.
Suleiman Makeri who is residing in Mallam Nura ward, Numan town of Adamawa State was said to have intoxicated the client who sought traditional medication at his residence.
The suspect according to a statement on Wednesday by the state police spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje admitted to issuing herbs that induced the client to vomit and applying an intoxicating aroma.
The statement reads, “The Adamawa State Police Command, has arrested a 49-year-old herbalist, Suleiman Manzo, alias Suleiman Makeri, residing in Mallam Nura ward, Numan town, for sexually assaulting a 22-year-old patient who sought traditional medication at his residence.
“According to the victim, who stayed at the herbalist’s residence for nearly a week, she was given an intoxicating substance that left her unconscious, during which the alleged assault took place. The accused admitted to administering herbs that caused the victim to vomit and applying an intoxicating scent.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Morris Dankwambo Psc(+), has ordered the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.”
However, the police vowed to charge the suspect to court upon completion of the investigation.
The CP advised the public to be cautious of individuals posing as traditional healers and to report any suspicious activities to the Police.
