Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr Abbas Tajudeen, has ordered the release of certified true copies of Nigeria’s four newly signed tax reform Acts, addressing widespread concerns over alleged alterations and unauthorised versions circulating online.
The statement, signed by House Spokesperson Akin Rotimi, highlights the Speaker’s directive following “public concerns and allegations regarding purported alterations and the circulation of unauthorised gazetted versions of the laws.”
This action, it notes, “underscores the Speaker’s long-standing commitment to transparency, legislative integrity, and public confidence in the law-making process.”
The released Acts, all assented to by President Bola Tinubu, include:
• The Nigeria Tax Act, 2025
• The Nigeria Tax Administration Act, 2025
• The National Revenue Service (Establishment) Act, 2025
• The Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Act, 2025
These laws according to him aim to modernise revenue administration, boost compliance, cut inefficiencies, and enhance fiscal coordination across Nigeria.
The House warned the public to “disregard and discountenance any other documents, texts, or versions in circulation that are not certified by the National Assembly,” emphasising that only National Assembly-certified copies are authentic.
Hard copies have been distributed to all House members and Senators, with alignment completed at the Federal Government Printing Press for accuracy.
“The Speaker remains resolute in safeguarding the integrity of legislative processes and ensuring that Nigerians can trust both the content of the laws made on their behalf and the institutions that make them,” the statement concluded.
