How delisted diaspora pensioners can rejoin payroll- PTAD

The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has directed that pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS), who were suspended from the pension payroll due to being unverified and residing abroad, must renew their “Aliveness Certificate” through the Nigerian High Commission in their country of residence.

It said in a statement signed by the Head, Corporate Communications Unit, obtained by Dailyeconomy that this certificate is a way to confirm their status since they cannot currently participate in the “I Am Alive” verification exercise for verified pensioners.

Dr. Chioma Ejikeme, the Executive Secretary of PTAD, explained that upon completing the nationwide pensioners’ verification exercise, those who were not verified were removed from the pension payroll, except for those residing abroad and those who are sick.

She further mentioned that the policy and procedures to guide the validation of Diaspora pensioners have been established.

Pensioners living abroad, who were previously on the inherited payroll from August 2015, will be reinstated to the Diaspora payroll pending their physical verification. However, they must submit copies of the following documents to complaints@ptad.gov.ng:

“Letter of First Appointment; Letter of Last Promotion; Letter of Acceptance of Retirement; Bank statement showing the last pension received; BVN slip with photograph; Valid means of Identification;

“I Am Alive” Certification from the Nigerian High Commission or a notarized letter confirming aliveness.”

Ejikeme also stated that all Diaspora pensioners are required to send an updated Aliveness Certificate every six months to the Directorate to ensure the continuity of their monthly pension payments. Failure to do so will result in their suspension from the pension payroll.
