Nigerian singer, Akinmayokun Awodumila well known as May D has disclosed that he accommodated Davido when the Afrobeats star faced family issues and had nowhere to stay.
May D in a recent podcast episode on Honest Bunch, recounted how he opened his home to Davido during a fallout with his father, showcasing their longstanding friendship.
May D also narrated poor treatment during his time at Square Records, a label owned by P-Square, revealing that he lacked basic comforts, including a decent living space and a bank account while signed to the label.
He stated that the lack of a bank account was duly on his part because he didn’t have resources enough to open one, stating that Davido was shocked by the poor condition of his room at P-Square’s mansion.
He said, “When Davido was running from his dad, he came to my room in P-Square’s house, he was like ‘May-D is this where you stay? I can’t sleep here oh’. If I had a room, it would have been cooler.
“For the four years I was with P-Square, I didn’t have a bank account. That wasn’t their fault. It’s only when someone has money that he opens an account,” he said
