Manchester United celebrated the fifth anniversary of Amad Diallo’s debut with a nostalgic social media post, spotlighting the winger’s journey from awestruck teen to rising star.
Diallo, now 23, shared vivid memories from his first day at Old Trafford in an “Inside Carrington” podcast.
“I remember my first day, I was parking, and then I saw Juan Mata. He was doing the test of COVID in that time. So I was like, ‘Oh, this is Juan Mata’” Diallo recounted.
Spotting legends like Paul Pogba and Eric Bailly in the dressing room left him starstruck, “I was like, ‘I can’t believe it!’”
The €37m signing from Atalanta made his bow on February 18, 2021, subbing on for 12 minutes in a 4-1 Europa League thrashing of Real Sociedad.
United’s post compiles his goals in a video montage, fueling fan hype amid his 2023-24 breakout—three strikes in 10 games, capped by a last-gasp FA Cup semifinal stunner against Liverpool.
“I’m playing for Manchester United now, so I have to give everything. I have to do my best for the club because now I play for a big club,” Diallo affirmed, crediting influences like Bruno Fernandes.
