The late singer Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, has expressed his frustrations regarding his relationship with Mohbad’s wife and son, as well as the handling of the legal proceedings surrounding his Mohbad’s death.
Aloba in an interview with Silverbird TV on Friday, expressed that he has not seen Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, or their son, Liam, since Mohbad’s death.
Aloba said, “I’ve not seen Mohbad’s wife and son since his death. Even my son, Adura, none of them came to me. They know where I’m living. They are supposed to come to me. The way I’m looking at things, they are supposed to bring that child to me and say, ‘This is your grandson.”
Also, he demanded on a DNA test to confirm the child’s paternity, expressing his doubts over Mohbad being the father of the child.
“I demanded DNA; they are supposed to say, ‘Daddy, do it at your convenient time,’ but they have been hiding it. So, it became a public matter. Let the court have the final say concerning it. I’ll know exactly what to do from there,” he added.
However, when asked if the child resembled Mohbad, Aloba answered, “No, no, no. With what I’m seeing, he’s not. If the DNA says he is, it’s acceptable.”
Aloba went on to state that his son, Adura, who lived with Mohbad, has also distanced himself and has not reached out to him or visited him since the incident.
He further stated, “Adura is now 22 years old, but he never called me or came to my house since his brother’s death. It’s like some people are covering him. We used to be together, but something separated us after Mohbad’s death.
“Adura is supposed to fill me in on exactly what happened to his brother; they were living in the same house. He is supposed to know.”
Speaking on the investigation into Mohbad’s death, Aloba criticised the uncertainty in the coroner’s inquest and urged the Lagos State government to reopen it.
“The issue is delay, and delay results in denial. I appreciate the people working with me, but unfortunately, I’m not satisfied with the way the case is going now,” he added.
Aloba further revealed that a private autopsy had been conducted but the results could not be presented until the coroner’s inquest was reopened.
“The coroner inquest was delayed, so I want to appeal to the Lagos state government to reopen the coroner inquest. There are a lot of things we should be doing now. We have done the private autopsy, but I cannot present the result now until the coroner is opened.
“I, myself, have not witnessed the result. The order was given to us from the court, so it is not something they will present to me. They need to present it to the court, but the court was closed.
“I paid for it, but I can’t demand for the result. When I asked him, he said how is he going to present it in the court when they ask him if anybody has witnessed the result,” he added.
