IFAC President engages Nigeria on enhancing fiscal, tax systems for national growth

The President of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), Jean Bouquot, recently visited Nigeria to hold key discussions on the country’s fiscal and tax reforms.

Accompanied by the ICAN delegation led by Mallam Haruna N. Yahaya, the visit focused on building “a fair, transparent, and efficient tax system that supports national development.”

The Chairman, Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, Taiwo Oyedele announced this on Thursday via his official X handle.

Oyedele described the meeting as a pleasure, underscoring that they “discussed Nigeria’s fiscal & tax reforms -building a fair, transparent, and efficient tax system that supports national development.”

He highlighted the key role of accountants in this mission, stating, “Accountants are central to this mission: driving integrity, accountability, and trust in public finance.”
