The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, warmly received police officers recently called to the bar at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
This was obtained in a statement on Tuesday by the Force spokesman, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin.
In his address, he congratulated them and singled out DSP Idachaba Laraba for graduating with First Class honours from the Nigerian Law School, describing her achievement as “an outstanding feat.”
Egbetokun stressed the importance of their dual roles, saying, “Every action and power exercised by the police must be grounded in, and backed by, the law.”
He highlighted that the officers return not just as personnel, but as “custodians of legal knowledge,” whose expertise will “strengthen the Force and serve the Nigerian people.”
The newly called officers expressed their gratitude for the IGP’s support, pledging “to uphold the highest standards of professionalism” in their legal duties.
Their arrival is timely, coinciding with the upgrade of the Police Force’s Legal Section into a full Directorate, now led by an Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
