Video: Ijoba Lande makes U-turn, says he wasn’t paid N90,000, apologises to Funke Akindele

Nigerian actor and comedian Ijoba Lande has publicly apologised and retracted his previous claim that filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele had shortchanged him for his work on a movie she cast him in.

In a sincere and emotional video shared on social media, Lande clarified that his initial remarks had been misunderstood and taken out of context.
Contrary to his earlier statement that he had been paid just N90,000 for his role, Lande now asserts that he was actually paid N190,000.
He also disclosed that after he expressed his concerns about the initial payment, Akindele had raised his daily rate.
In his apology, Lande expressed regret for his earlier comments, stressing that he never intended to tarnish Akindele’s reputation. He conveyed that he did not seek conflict and pleaded for her forgiveness.
Lande additionally implored Akindele not to pursue any legal action, citing his financial inability to handle the potential consequences.
Lande said, “Please help me beg Aunty Funke. That was not how I made the video. I didn’t do the video to tarnish your image. Aunty Funke, you didn’t do any wickedness. Those of you who cut the video halfway you aren’t good and you are wicked.
“When I was explaining, that it was 90,000 you cut it and joined it together. It was not 90,000 from the start, and I explained in the video that sorry it was 190,000 not 90,000. I wasn’t the only one in the video, in fact, Mama Ogba came upstairs to come and tell me that it was okay like that and we were even discussing the good thing Aunty Funke had done in the industry.
“You now cut and join the video to post, you didn’t pick the full video to post. You now cut the place where I made a mistake, please now don’t spoil my life
“If I am sued now that they paid 190,000 not 90,000 where will I get the money to pay for the fine? Please help me beg Aunty Funke that I didn’t mean it the way people are seeing it.
“And what really happened was that we were discussing the upcoming that anytime they are going to work, they should always charge before going to work because we have many users in the industry now.
“And many of the producers are not aware of how much they paid the actor, that the PM would have removed some of the money before paying that was what I was explaining in the video. Then I use the story of Aunty Funke and me as an example I went to work with her in the year 2022.
“I spent a whole Month at the location and I was paid 90,000 then I later changed it that It was 190,000.
“I signed the agreement with her, I was okay with the money that was why I agreed to it and what happened to me then was that it was Aunty Funke that called me to work and it was someone else that brought the paper and I decided to do the work for that one month and as soon as the month ends. I stopped going to the location. The title of the work was ‘My Sibling and I’ and I acted as a gateman in the movie.
“She called herself asking why I didn’t come to the location again and I told her why I didn’t come and that the money was not good enough and she asked me how much and I told her, she then said why didn’t you tell me and I said I thought she was aware, that was when I got to know she was not aware of the price, she then said okay, they will Call me back.
“I was called back and she said they should be paying me daily and they started paying 55,000 or 65,000 daily till I finished the word with them.
“Now you went ahead to cut the place I talked about 90,000 even though I said in the video that it was a mistake, I was not the only one in the video, please. Aunty Funke please I am so sorry, forgive me, I don’t have anything to fight with you and please don’t fight me too, please.
“If you decide to arrest me, you just want to send me to prison because I am not fighting you please ooo.”
