The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially scheduled the start of political campaigns for the 2026 Osun State governorship election on March 11, 2026.
This announcement came from Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner Mutiu Agboke during an expanded stakeholders’ meeting in Osogbo.
The gathering also launched the second phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
Agboke emphasised that INEC would soon convene another meeting to brief political parties and stakeholders on the campaign guidelines, in full compliance with the Electoral Act.
“By God’s grace, full campaign activities will commence on March 11, 2026. We will still meet with stakeholders, especially political parties, to brief them appropriately,” he stated.
He further assured that formal communication detailing the full campaign timetable would be distributed to all political actors, promoting strict adherence to electoral regulations.
The development signals heightened preparations for the governorship poll, with parties expected to ramp up activities as the date approaches.
