The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has issued a nationwide directive to its members, urging them to prioritise sourcing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), or petrol, exclusively from the Dangote Petroleum Refinery starting January 2026.

The move aims to leverage competitive pricing, free nationwide delivery to filling stations, and bolster local refining amid ongoing fuel supply challenges.

IPMAN National President Abubakar Maigandi Shettima emphasised the refinery’s advantages in a strongly worded statement.

“I am calling on all IPMAN members nationwide to prioritise patronising the Dangote Refinery in their purchase of PMS products, as they currently offer the most affordable prices for marketers,” Shettima said.

Representing over 80% of Nigeria’s petrol retail outlets, IPMAN slammed the reliance on fuel imports, calling it a drain on foreign exchange reserves that kills local jobs and stifles investment in domestic refineries.

The association also pressed the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to ease regulations for independent marketers to build their own facilities.

Shettima praised President Bola Tinubu’s reforms for enabling the Dangote-IPMAN deal.

“The collaboration is aimed at improving fuel availability and affordability for Nigerians,” he added, while flagging over N190 billion in unpaid bridging claims owed to members.
