Nigerian Islamic singer, Rukayat Gawat is dead.

Gawat, who is popular for her Islamic songs, died on Tuesday.

The unfortunate news was shared by Ilorin-based cleric Alfa Aribidesi At-Tawdeeh Islamic Da’awah via his official Facebook page on Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s media aide, Jubril Gawat, who is a member of the Gawat family, has indirectly confirmed the news in a post on his X (formally Twitter) on Tuesday.

He wrote, “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.” Q 2 V 156.”

Rukayat Gawat, who passed away recently, was considered one of the top Islamic musicians in Nigeria. She was known for her dedication to showcasing women’s roles in the household through her music.
