It is an offence to deny officers access to your houses – Police
Abdullateef Fowewe
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, has stated that it is an offence for any citizen to deny officers access to their houses.
Edafe in a post on X (formally Twitter) noted that citizens should stop thinking that it is right to lock the police either outside or inside.
He stated this while reacting to a video showing a group of young men refusing to open their gate for policemen attempting to enter the building.
In the video, the men identified themselves as content creators, distancing themselves from any association with internet fraud.
They also voiced concerns about the masked appearance of the armed individuals attempting to enter.
Edafe also addressed the issue of “wearing masks” for officers, stating that it is not allowed in the Nigeria Police Force.
Edafe wrote, “Wearing a mask as a policeman is a red flag and it’s not allowed in policing. However we all should stop thinking that it is right to lock the police either outside or inside, that’s another offence on its own. That incident can’t be defended simply because the policemen were masked.
“We are waiting for information to know where it transpired so that a proper investigation will be carries out. But why did they say they are not Yahoo boys but content creators even though the Police never asked them any questions? Just asking though.”
