Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has welcomed 30 leading members of opposition parties who defected to the ruling New Nigerian Peoples Party.

Yusuf according to a statement shared on the Kano State official social media handle on Wednesday, said the defected members include top-ranking members who contested various elective positions in the 2023 general elections in Kano under the platforms of the Zenith Labour Party and the National Rescue Movement.

The remark reads, “I was pleased to receive 30 leading members of opposition parties who decamped to the ruling New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), on Tuesday.

“The decampees include top-ranking members who contested various elective positions in the 2023 general elections in Kano under the platforms of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and the National Rescue Movement (NRM).

“While receiving the decampees, I commended their decision and conviction to admit the truth amid political gimmicks being spread by opposition parties.

“I further reminded them that the NNPP administration would sustain an unwavering commitment to socio-economic development, especially across all critical sectors of the economy.”
