Kano police apprehend notorious criminal, recover cash, lethal weapons

The Kano State Police Command has apprehended an infamous armed robber, recovered two AK-47 rifles with 47 rounds of live ammunition and cash of four million, nine hundred and eight-six thousand naira (N4,986,000.00).
The suspect identified as Hassan Iliya 35, was according to the Kano State Police spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, arrested on Monday, August 5, while attempting to flee on a motorcycle.
Kiyawa in the statement acknowledged that “ A spot search revealed a sack containing two AK-47 Rifles with 47 rounds of live ammunition and cash, totalling four million, nine hundred, and eighty-six thousand nairas (N4,986,000.00). The investigation is ongoing.”
In another victory operation, the Kano Police arrested some unidentified suspects after a resident of Yandadi Village, Kunchi Local Government Area, Kano State reported that armed robbers stormed his home, attacked him, and collected N15m from him.
“Despite the management of the ongoing Nationwide Protest, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, directed a team of detectives to conduct intelligence-led patrols to arrest the culprits and recover their operational weapons,” Kiyawa confirmed.
The Kano Commissioner of Police, Salman Garba urged the public to remain patriotic, avoid acts capable of instigating violence, and remain vigilant.
Nevertheless, the Lagos State Police Command arrested two suspects and recovered weapons in the Mushin area of the state, as reported by the Dailyeconomy on Friday, August 2, 2024.
