Katsina Governor, Dikko Radda, officially opened a two-day national retreat for the Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) programme in Katsina.

The retreat, themed “Building a Sustainable NG-CARES Program: The Role of the National Assembly,” gathers lawmakers, programme managers, and key stakeholders.

Its aim is to strengthen Nigeria’s social protection systems and promote the long-term sustainability of the NG-CARES initiative, according to a post on the governor’s official X handle on Tuesday.

Governor Radda highlighted progress recorded under the KT-CARES program in Katsina, noting that over N100 billion has been invested across three result areas — the Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), FADAMA, and the Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency (KASEDA).

He said these interventions have enhanced livelihoods, empowered communities, and built resilience across the state.

“The NG-CARES initiative has transformed lives, revitalized rural economies, and reinforced our commitment to inclusive growth and social protection. Katsina is now recognized as a leading example in the implementation of the program nationwide,” he said.

He urged participants to fully engage in discussions, exchange ideas, and propose innovative solutions to strengthen NG-CARES while reflecting on the National Assembly’s role in shaping policy, mobilizing resources, and ensuring long-term sustainability.
