‪The 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and founder of the influential Kwankwasiyya movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has formally resigned from the party with immediate effect.‬

‪Kwankwaso, a former Kano State governor, announced his decision in a press statement dated today, expressing gratitude for his tenure while citing the nation’s evolving political dynamics.‬

‪“I wish to formally announce my resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) with immediate effect,” he stated.‬

‪He added, “considering the current trajectory of the nation’s political landscape, which calls for strategic realignment, I have found it necessary to identify with another political platform that offers the best opportunity to effectively change the nation.”‬

‪Kwankwaso thanked NNPP leaders, including National Chairman Ajuji Ahmed, the National Working Committee, Board of Trustees, and grassroots members.‬

‪“I extend my deepest appreciation to the National Chairman, Ajuji Ahmed and the entire National Working Committee for their steadfast support throughout my time,” he wrote, pledging continued collaboration “towards charting a better and more prosperous future for our dear nation.”‬

‪Speculation is rife that Kwankwaso may join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to partner with Labour Party’s Peter Obi, potentially forming an “Obi-Kwankwaso” ticket to unite southern and northern opposition against President Bola Tinubu’s
