The All Progressives Congress has won the Local Government elections that held in Kwara State on Saturday.

A statement made available for journalists on Sunday by the State Independent Electoral Commission chairman, Mohammed Baba-Okanla, pointed out that the ruling APC won all chairmanship and councillorship seats across the 16 local government councils and 193 wards of the state, respectively.

The positions were jostled for by five political parties, including APC, Allied Peoples Movement, People’s Democratic Party, Social Democratic Party, and the Accord Party.

The statement said, “The electoral process, which unfolded across the state’s 16 local government areas and 193 wards, witnessed the participation of five political parties: APC, APM, PDP, SDP, and Accord. Our electoral officers and returning officers from the field have filed their results, and I’m pleased to share the outcomes with you.

“After meticulous collation and verification, the All Progressives Congress has emerged victorious in all categories. Specifically, the APC has won all 16 local government area chairmanship positions and secured all 193 councillorship seats.

“We commend the political parties for their commitment to a peaceful election, which did not record any major casualties, and thank the people of Kwara State for turning out en masse to exercise their civic rights. We would also like to appreciate the security agencies for ensuring peace and orderliness throughout the voting process in a professional manner.”
