The Senior Special Adviser to the Kwara State Governor on Communications, Ibraheem Abdullateef, has firmly refuted circulating reports claiming that nine out of sixteen local government areas (LGAs) in the state are under bandit control.
In a statement titled “No local govt in Kwara is under control of bandits,” made on Monday via X, Abdullateef described the report as “False” and “simply concocted,” emphasising that “No single LGA is taken,” with the Kwara Police Command also refuting the claims.
While acknowledging isolated security incidents in some communities in the northern and southern parts of the state, the spokesperson assured that “the state remains the safest and most peaceful in North Central.”
Highlighting ongoing efforts, he said the Kwara State Government is partnering with the Office of the National Security Adviser and “recording success in restoring safety in the affected communities.”
He concluded by urging those spreading the false information, including the KWARA PDP PRO, Olusegun Adewara Sholyment, to “desist immediately,” and advised the media and public to “take note.”
