The Lagos State Government has announced temporary road closures in preparation for the highly anticipated Fanti Carnival on Monday, April 6, 2026.

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture shared the details in a statement on X (formerly Twitter), urging motorists to plan ahead.

The affected roads, set to be cordoned off starting from 7:00 a.m., include King George V Road at the Mobil Filling Station junction, Onikan Roundabout inbound to TBS, Flagstaff House inbound to TBS, Outer Marina by State House inbound to TBS, Campbell Street by the Old Defence Building, and Catholic Mission Street by St. Nicholas Hospital.

In the statement, the government wrote, “The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, has announced the temporary closure of some roads ahead of the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled for Monday, 6th April 2026.”

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) outlined alternative routes to minimize disruptions:
• Vehicles from Obalende descending towards Onikan Roundabout will be directed to Zone 2.
• Those from Bonny Camp towards McEwen Bridge or from Flagstaff House to TBS will be diverted to Obalende Bridge.
• Vehicles from Outer Marina to TBS will also head to Obalende Bridge.

The statement concluded, “The State Government regrets any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates the cooperation of the public. Motorists and residents are advised to plan their movements accordingly and use alternative routes during this period.”

Residents are encouraged to comply for a smooth event celebrating Fanti culture.
