The Lagos State Government has arrested 20 individuals over environmental infractions in the Ojodu–Berger area of the state.

The offenders according to the state Commissioner of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, were arrested during patrol and monitoring of Ojodu–Berger in the early hours of Sunday, by operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation.

“Open Defecation: During patrol and monitoring of Ojodu–Berger yesterday night and early hours of today, operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps #LAGESCOfficial arrested 20 individuals for committing environmental infractions,” Wahab wrote on X (formally Twitter).

Meanwhile, Wahab had earlier cautioned about defecating in open places when the State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources proceeded with the entire cleanup of the Ojodu Berger median and announced that the state government has set up a taskforce to arrest those defecating in open places, as reported by Dailyeconomy on August 23, 2024.

Recall that the State taskforce has apprehended six individuals for openly urinating in front of Nigeria Army Shopping Complex, Arena, Oshodi on Saturday, August 24.
