In a bid to combat severe flooding, the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources has initiated the removal of structures built on setbacks and drainage alignments along the Alaba International drainage channel.
This move, according to Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for Environment, aims to ensure a free flow of stormwater in the area, aligning with the state’s broader efforts to improve drainage and mitigate flooding risks.
He wrote, “The Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources has commenced removal of contravening structures built on setbacks and drainage alignments along Alaba International drainage channel.
“This effort is geared towards ensuring a free flow of stormwater in the axis.”
The initiative is part of a larger campaign to maintain a cleaner and flood-free environment, as emphasized by the #CleanerLagos initiative.
