Lagos Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, has announced that beggars operating around Freedom Road by Admiralty have been arrested following a directive issued last Saturday.

He stated via his X handle on Monday, “We also extended the operation to the Ajah–Ado and Badore axis where more street beggars were apprehended as part of efforts to maintain order and ensure the safety of road users and pedestrians.”

Wahab emphasised the ongoing commitment to sustain these efforts, saying, “We will continue monitoring the corridors to prevent a resurgence. It is all for a cleaner and a safer Lagos.”

The move according to him reflects the government’s determination to restore order and improve the environment for commuters and pedestrians across the city.
