The Lagos State Government has given a 48-hour notice to traders and stall owners operating under the Apongbon Bridge and along drainage setbacks in Lagos Island to vacate the areas.

The state government warned that the activities of these illegal kiosk owners and traders contribute to flooding and endanger lives and properties.

This was made known via a statement shared on the X (formally Twitter) account of the Lagos Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, on Thursday.

It said, “Today, I led an inspection of the Savage/Elegbata/Bombata drainage channel on Lagos Island. It’s disheartening to see illegal stalls and structures on critical drainage setbacks. These activities contribute to flooding and endanger lives and properties.
