Lagos launches campaign to verify property leases

The Lagos state government, through the Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency, has commenced an enlightenment campaign to streamline the verification of development lease agreements.

The campaign which was organised in partnership with the Ministry of Information and Strategy, according to the statement Dailyeconomy obtained from the Lagos State Government on Sunday, targets property owners, developers, and agents across Lagos Island, including areas such as Ereko, Eyin-Eyo, and Balogun Streets.

The statement reads in part, “Lagos State Government through its Agency, Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency (LASURA), has organised an enlightenment campaign on the submission of development lease agreements between LASURA, Lessees, Developers, Agents and the general public, particularly Allotees for the verification and completeness of records of properties managed by the Agency.

“The enlightenment programme, organised in conjunction with the Ministry of Information and Strategy, was held in different parts of Lagos Island including Ereko, Eyin-Eyo, Nnamdi Azikwe, Ali Balogun, Martins, Idumagbo Avenue and Balogun Streets.

“The Director of Estate Development, LASUTS, Esv. Odusanya Oluwafemi, who represented the General Manager, Tpl. Esv. Animashaun Oladimeji advised the property owners and allottees to drop their Agreement Documents at the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Urban Development, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Block, 15, Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja as well as submit copies at the Office of the General Manager, Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency, PWD, Old Secretariat, Off- Oba Akinjobi Way, Ikeja. (Estate Services Department, First Floor, Room 2), between now and Wednesday, 11th September, 2024.

“He warned that failure to comply with the content of the notice may warrant revocation of the Lease Agreement by the Agency.”

Other officials present during the enlightenment campaign were the Director of Estate Development (LASURA), Esv. Odusanya Oluwafemi; Engr. Musa Moshood, Esv. George Ogun and PAO Adedeji Akolade, among others, as well as the Public Enlightenment crew of the Ministry of Information and Strategy.
