Lagos State authorities have cracked down on environmental violators on Thursday, re-sealing two properties on Adeniji Adele Road after they were caught discharging untreated wastewater and raw sewage into the environment.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced the action taken by the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) in collaboration with the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps.

“The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) in a joint operation with the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, on Thursday, 15th January 2026, re-sealed off two (2) properties at No. 34 & 38 Adeniji Adele Road, Lagos Island, following unabated discharge of untreated wastewater and raw sewage into the environment and causing persistent offensive odour from a dilapidated chambers and overflowing septic tank and also for breaking of government seal,” Wahab confirmed.

The violations included persistent offensive odors from dilapidated chambers and an overflowing septic tank, marking a repeat offense as the properties had previously been sealed by the government.

Wahab emphasised the commitment to a cleaner Lagos, ending the statement with the hashtag #CleanerLagos.
