In an action to facilitate a sustainable environment and safeguard public health, the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office on Friday, sealed off several facilities for violating environmental regulations as outlined in the Environmental Management and Protection Law 2017.

This was made known on Friday, by the State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab.

Among the facilities affected were a public toilet located under the bridge at Leventis Bus Stop, Apongbon, and Ebute-Ero Market Block N.

The public toilet was penalised for discharging untreated sewage into the lagoon and constructing an illegal public toilet, while the Ebute-Ero Market was sealed for channelling sewage pipes into public drains and building a septic tank on a walkway.

He wrote, “The Lagos of State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) in demonstration of its commitment to sustainable environment, proper sanitation and public health safety in the State in line with EMPL 2017, on Friday 24th January 2025, sealed off a Public Toilet at Underbridge by Leventis Bus-Stop, Apongbon for deliberate discharging of untreated sewage into the Lagoon and Illegal Construction of Public Toilet, and Ebute-Ero Market Block N, for channeling sewage pipes into public drains and construction of septic tank on walk way.

“The agency also resealed Optimum Exposure Media Control Room for deliberate discharging of untreated sewage into the Lagoon and other environmental nuisance.
