As part of the ongoing efforts to address open defecation, the Lagos State taskforce has apprehended six individuals for openly urinating in front of Nigeria Army Shopping Complex, Arena, Oshodi.

The Lagos State Government has recently taken a firm stance against open defecation/urination, which made the state set up a taskforce to arrest offenders.

This was disclosed on Saturday by the state Commissioner of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, via his X (formerly Twitter) account.

He wrote, “6 defaulters were earlier today arrested for open urination on rail track in front of Nigeria Army Shopping Complex, Arena, Oshodi.”

Meanwhile, Wahab had earlier posted that the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps special Taskforce patrolling Ojudu-Berger and the environment to apprehend anyone found crossing the highway without using the pedestrian bridge or defecating on the road median at midnight.

However, Wahab enjoined defecating in open places when the State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources proceeded with the entire cleanup of the Ojodu Berger median on Thursday, August 22, as reported by Dailyeconomy on Friday.

The recent arrests by the taskforce demonstrate the authorities’ commitment to enforcing laws against public urination and promoting a healthier, more hygienic environment for all residents.
