LASRRA, Seed Care celebrate pupils in second gift presentation ceremony

The Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA), in collaboration with the Seed Care and Support Foundation, successfully hosted the second edition of its Gift Presentation Ceremony for pupils from low-fee private schools who emerged as lucky winners in a recently conducted raffle draw.
A statement from LASRRA said the event, which took place on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the LASRRA Board Room, is part of ongoing efforts by the agency to encourage inclusive participation in residents’ registration and promote civic engagement among all demographic groups, especially children in underserved communities.
Speaking at the event, the General Manager of LASRRA, Mrs. Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola, expressed delight at the growing impact of the initiative, which is aimed at incentivizing early registration of children in the Lagos State Residents Registration database. She emphasized that capturing young residents is vital for effective planning, ensuring inclusive governance and equitable distribution of public services. A good example is the Mandatory Health Insurance Scheme.
She noted that the raffle draw was part of an awareness campaign to promote registration among Lagos residents, including school-aged children, and commended the Seed Care and Support Foundation for their unwavering partnership.
“This initiative is more than a gift presentation,” she said. “It is a bridge that connects underserved communities to the broader benefits of government planning and support. We are grateful for our continued partnership with the Seed Care and Support Foundation, whose unwavering support and shared vision have made this possible.”
The acting Director-General, Mr. Aderemi Abdul who was represented by the Director, in the Office, Mrs. Evelyn Ibukun Pelemo acknowledged the synergy and innovation between LASRRA and Seed Care & Support Foundation which speaks volume of Lagos State inclusive vision of “No Child is left behind”.
“The value of this healthy competition is measured by the tangible and intangible benefits been extended to the participating schools such as encouragement and recognition, healthy competition, commitment to support education and data inclusivity “, she said. Pelemo stated that more low-fee paying schools be encouraged to participate in this initiative.
The Founder/ Executive Director, of a non-governmental organization who cares for low-fee private schools, SEED Care & Support Foundation, Mrs. Olanrewaju Oniyitan in her goodwill message expressed her delight at the success of the initiative, stating that it reflects the agency’s commitment to touching lives through innovative community partnerships.
Speaking further, she stated that 7,699 residents including parents, staff and pupils have been captured in the first and second phase of the exercise and many schools are still on the queue to key in and get registered. She reiterated that the two partners are using strategic partnerships to drive awareness and inclusion.
Mrs. Oniyitan reiterated the Foundation’s resolve to continue supporting educational and welfare initiatives that enhance opportunities for children in disadvantaged communities. He described the raffle draw and gift presentation as a creative means of motivating pupils and raising awareness about identity management and access to social benefits through registration.
“We are not just collecting numbers, we are strengthening identity, services that Lagos State has to offer and enforcing trust between government and underserved communities”. LASRRA/ SEED Care & Support are here to scale up registration and with great opportunities, parents will get succor. She then implores other low-fee private schools to embrace this initiative as LASRRA is using these schools as center of contact.
The event was attended by school representatives, parents, LASRRA officials, and Pupils who won in the raffle draw were presented with various gift items, ranging from school bags, launch box and other items that would aid their learning.
LASRRA remains committed to ensuring that no resident is left behind in the ongoing registration drive and will continue to foster partnerships that empower communities across the State. It also remains committed to ensuring every Lagos resident is registered and recognized, especially children whose data is essential for future educational, health, and social planning.
