The Permanent Secretary, Office of Urban Development, Engr. Olalekan Shodeinde has been inducted as a Special Traffic Mayor in the State.
The Decoration, conducted in the Permanent Secretary’s office in Alausa on Wednesday by LASTMA’s Director of Traffic Advocacy and Special Traffic Mayor, Jimi Awoyemi, is in furtherance of LASTMA’s policy of building traffic advocacy through eminent civil servants.
A statement by Chief Public Affairs Officer, Adetola Kehinde-Akinsanya, said on Wednesday.
Accepting the conferment of the honour, Engr. Shodeinde said that his induction was not misplaced, given his flair for ensuring the free flow of traffic, having been accustomed to controlling the traffic within State.
His words: ” I feel highly honoured by this induction into the famed LASTMA Special Traffic Mayor and will continue to put in so much effort to support LASTMA officials towards achieving the Traffic Management and Transportation Pillar of the T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda of the Lagos State Govemment”.
He appreciated the leadership of the Ministry of Transportation, including the Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Special Adviser on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa and the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olawale Musa, as well as the General Manager, LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki for considering him worthy of the honour.
He praised Bakare-Oki and his men’s commitment and resilience in managing traffic in the State while commending the Special Traffic Mayor initiative as very apt and necessary, especially now that Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State, has just commissioned networks of roads in different parts of the State.
